“Lion” and “Mary Magdalene” helmer Garth Davis has been set to direct the next installment of the “TRON” franchise at Disney Pictures.
The film would mark Davis’ first tentpole and the helmer reportedly aggressively pursued the job won over Disney executives with his take on the material which is expected to not be a direct sequel to 2010’s “TRON: Legacy”.
A greenlight has not yet been given with the project still very much in development, but Davis’ involvement is a good sign that things are finally moving again.
Jesse Wigutow wrote the most recent draft of the script with Jared Leto to both star in and produce the film. Justin Springer and Emma Ludbrook also produce.
