“Boyhood” and “Dazed and Confused” filmmaker Richard Linklater has revealed that he hopes to shoot a French-language movie on location in Paris.
Speaking with fellow indie filmmaker Gregg Araki for Interview Magazine, Linklater was asked about comments he had heard that Linklater was filming something in Paris
Linklater corrected him, saying he isn’t shooting anything there yet, but has a desire to and says: “Yeah, in French. It’s like a New Wave film.” Sadly no further specifics were revealed about a potential plot or casting.
Said project would mark his first non-English language film to date, though he has shot in France before – most notably in his acclaimed “Before Sunset” which was the second entry in his ‘Before’ trilogy.
Both filmmakers have been busy lately with Araki’s iconic early queer films “The Doom Generation” and “Nowhere” scoring new 4K restorations.
Meanwhile, Linklater’s action-comedy “Hit Man” recently played to rave reviews on the Fall film festival circuit which Netflix acquired for $20 million. It is expected to open later this year.
