The acclaimed BBC cop drama series “Line of Duty” is finally back, the network announcing a March 21st premiere date for the new season and showing off a glimpse of footage in a brief new trailer.

The new season will clock in at seven episodes, making it the longest to date. Episodes will air every Sunday at 9pm through until May 2nd.

The series, about internal corruption within the police force, is famed for its guest stars with the likes of Lennie James, Keeley Hawe, Daniel Mays, Thandie Newton and Stephen Graham serving as the big ‘season guest star’ in past seasons.

The main trio of Adrian Dunbar, Martin Compston and Vicky McClure are back and the big guest for the new season will be Kelly Macdonald as DCI Joanne Davidson, the senior investigating officer of an unsolved murder whose unconventional conduct raises suspicions at AC-12.

Shalom Brune-Franklin (“Roadkill”) is also joining the cast as a new addition to the team. Series creator Jed Mercurio (“Bodyguard”) is also back for the new run.

No word on international premieres as yet. The series has been carried internationally on multiple outlets including Amazon Prime, Hulu and Acorn in the U.S., and on Netflix, Stan, Acorn and Britbox in Australia.
