Linda Hamilton Joins “Stranger Things” S5

Paramount Pictures

“Terminator” franchise actress Linda Hamilton has joined the cast of Netflix’s “Stranger Things” for the show’s fifth and final season.

Specifics of her character are under wraps. Production on the new run was supposed to have begun around about now but has been delayed by the writer’s strike.

Writing on the fifth season’s scripts got underway in early August last year. It’s expected they were mostly finished, but last month executive producers and showrunners Matt and Ross Duffer issued a statement saying rather than filming without writers on set, they’re choosing to postpone.

The pair have previously indicated they intend to go out with a huge scale season and have compared it to “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” with multiple endings. On the flipside the new season is expected to stay within the confines of Hawkins.

The fourth season was the most streamed series of 2022 and has remained Netflix’s biggest English language show, beaten only on the service by the first season of “Squid Game”.

Hamilton joins several other 1980s/1990s cinema alums like Paul Reiser, Matthew Modine and Sean Astin, who have had major roles in the series.
