After becoming a staple of the action genre for over a decade, Liam Neeson may be retiring from kicking ass in the near future.

Neeson is currently out doing promotional rounds for “The Marksman” in which he plays an ex-Marine turned reclusive rancher who must protect an eleven-year-old boy from drug cartel assassins.

Neeson tells ET Online he loves doing action films: “I love beating up guys half my age,” but admits an end to his action film days is in sight with his recent work filming “Blacklight” giving him a bit of a wake-up call:

“Oh, yeah. I think so. I’m 68 and a half. 69 this year. There’s a couple more I’m going to do this year – hopefully, COVID allowing us – there’s a couple in the pipeline and, then I think that will probably be it. Well, unless I’m on a Zimmer frame or something.

I’ve just finished one in Australia, and I had a fight scene with a kid – lovely, sweet actor called Taylor – and halfway through the fight I looked up, I was breathless, and it didn’t cost him a cent, and I said, ‘Taylor, what age are you?’ He said, ’25.’ I said, ‘That’s the age of my eldest son!'”

The talk comes as the Neeson-led 2011 identity theft thriller “Unknown,” one of his earliest collaborations with Jaume Collet-Serra, recently became the most-watched film on Netflix.

Neson says they’re “trying to get a TV series based on the premise of the story of Unknown” made, but he won’t star – only serve as executive producer. “The Marksman” is in theaters now.
