The internet is the internet, with fans often getting carried away when it comes to the slightest quote about their favorite fandom.
A notable example happened today. Shawn Levy, a producer on “Stranger Things” and director of Ryan Reynolds’ recent films like “Free Guy” and “The Adam Project,” showed up at the Emmy awards last night.
Speaking with Variety about the “Stranger Things” spin-off in the works, he quickly made a crack about the unlikely crossover of Levy & Reynolds’ biggest franchises:
“Funnily enough, [‘Deadpool’ star] Ryan [Reynolds] and I were trying to figure out how in the world could we do a ‘Deadpool’-‘Stranger Things’ crossover. We haven’t cracked it yet, but it’s on the table.”
Of course, some got carried away with that kind of quote to the point that Levy has had to explain on Twitter that it was a joke:
“Wade Wilson can’t stand the sight of blood, unless it’s his own or his enemies. Nose- bleeds are a hard Pass. No DP/ST crossover coming, folks. Sorry my dumb joke led to misleading headlines.”
