Abbey Lee and Christopher Abbott will lead the chase thriller “Fear is the Rider” from “The Guard” and “Calvary” director John Michael McDonagh.
Dubbed “Duel meets Picnic at Hanging Rock” and based on Kenneth Cook’s novel, the story begins as war photojournalist John Shaw (Abbott) arrives in Australia trying to recover from his experience during the Vietnam War.
After meeting a young woman (Lee) in a small-town bar, he decides to detour to photograph cave paintings. Under the baking sun where people can die within hours, the elements are not the most hazardous thing in the bush.
Shaw and his mysterious companion soon find themselves caught up in an unrelenting fight for survival. McDonagh penned the screenplay and will produce alongside Elizabeth Eves.
