LeBron James and Maverick Carter’s SpringHill Company banner has signed a four-year first-look deal with Universal Pictures.
The two companies already have three projects in development which will be included in the deal. Those include a currently untitled adaptation of “Shooting Stars” by James and Buzz Bissinger; an adaptation of Jerry Craft’s Newbery Medal winner “New Kid,” and Ali Kinney’s original pitch “Catch the Wave”.
Universal Filmed Entertainment Group chairman, Donna Langley, says in a statement: “We’re already partnering with LeBron and Maverick on some exciting projects in active development, with more to come, and we look forward to leveraging our resources across the NBCU portfolio to amplify those titles and bring important voices like SpringHill to a global audience.”
