“Hunger Games” sequels director Francis Lawrence is set to helm “Vulcan’s Hammer,” a film adaptation of the 1960 novel by “Minority Report,” “Total Recall” and “Blade Runner” author Philip K. Dick.
The story is set after a devastating world war when the nations of Earth form the Unity party and cede global governance to an AI system named Vulcan which algorithmically dictates policies for Unity to carry out.
After Vulcan is attacked and a special agent is murdered, Unity director William Barris is called to unravel the mystery to figure out who, or what, wants to destroy the system he has dedicated his life to.
New Republic Pictures is backing the project with Lawrence, Cameron MacConomy, Dick Hackett, Brian Oliver and Bradley Fischer producing.
