A sequel to the Gerard Butler and Jamie Foxx-led 2009 action feature “Law Abiding Citizen” is in the works with producers Butler, Alan Siegel and Lucas Foster returning along with screenwriter Kurt Wimmer.
The original followed assistant district attorney Nick Rice (Foxx) and his pursuit of frustrated father Clyde Shelton (Butler).
Shelton implements an elaborate and twisted plan to bring down the entire judicial system in Philadelphia after a plea bargain sets free the man who murdered his wife and daughter.
The F. Gary Gray-directed movie grossed $130 million in release, but more recently came to attention again in December when it re-emerged and became one of the top three most viewed movies in December on Netflix – behind only much bigger budgeted new Netflix releases.
Rob Paris and Mike Witherill are also producing.
