“Happy Death Day” and “Freaky” director Christopher Landon has been set to write and direct a remake of Frank Marshall’s 1990 creature feature “Arachnophobia” for Amblin Partners.

The original horror comedy centered on a small town terrorized by a colony of deadly spiders after one from South America is accidentally brought into the United States.

Jeff Daniels starred as a doctor who moves his family from the big city to the town to enjoy a quiet life – until the spiders set up their colony in his house. John Goodman, Julian Sands and Harley Jane Kozak also starred.

James Wan and Michael Clear are producing. Marshall will executive produce.
