Kosinski’s Lenser Joins “Star Wars: Starfighter”

Paramount Pictures

Oscar-winning cinematographer Claudio Miranda has reportedly boarded Shawn Levy’s “Star Wars: Starfighter” film at Disney and Lucasfilm.

The Chilean-American cinematographer is most known for being filmmaker Joseph Kosinski’s go-to lenser – serving as director of photography on Kosinski’s films “F1,” “Top Gun: Maverick,” “Only the Brave,” “Spiderhead,” “Oblivion” and “Tron: Legacy”.

Other works include David Fincher’s “The Curious Case of Benjamin Button,” Ang Lee’s “Life of Pi,” Brad Bird’s “Tomorrowland” and more recently “Nyad”.

The Insneider broke the news, indicating Miranda has officially signed on. His inclusion immediately boosts the project’s prospects and hints at director Shawn Levy upping his game for the next outing.

It also follows on from yesterday’s announcement of the start of production on the film which stars Ryan Gosling, Flynn Gray, Amy Adams, Matt Smith, Aaron Pierre, Mia Goth, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, Daniel Ings and Eva Mendes.

The film is a standalone adventure set in a period of time not explored in Star Wars. Jonathan Tropper pens the script while Levy and Kathleen Kennedy produce.

“Star Wars: Starfighter” will be released theatrically on May 28th 2027.
