Lionsgate has officially announced it is moving forward on a sequel to its 2018 murder mystery hit “Knives Out”.
As part of Thursday’s conference call with Wall Street analysts, Lionsgate’s CEO Jon Feltheimer and Motion Picture Group Chairman Joe Drake confirmed both a “Knives Out” sequel and a fourth “John Wick” are prepping for production starts.
The new ‘Wick’ has been dated for a May 21st 2021 release, but a ‘Knives’ follow-up has not. The first “Knives Out,” on top of receiving rave reviews and award nominations, will soon break $300 million at the worldwide box office from a $40 million budget.
Feltheimer says the film “serves as further proof that franchises can emerge from any of our content verticals.” It’s expected the next film will again see Daniel Craig’s Benoit Blanc character investigating a new case.
