Author Stephen King has passed on his approval for “Pet Sematary: Bloodlines,” the upcoming horror film that serves as a prequel to the 2019 film adaptation of his “Pet Sematary” novel.
In a posting on Twitter, King says the “screenplay takes a few liberties, but it’s a fine story. David Duchovny is excellent. The secret, as always, is caring about the characters.”
The film is based on an untold chapter of the book and follows a younger version of the Jud Crandall character in 1969.
Jud has dreams of leaving his hometown behind but soon discovers sinister secrets buried within and is forced to confront a dark family history that will forever keep him connected to the town.
Banding together, Jud and his childhood friends must fight an ancient evil that has gripped Ludlow since its founding and, once unearthed, has the power to destroy everything in its path.
Lindsey Beer pens and makes her directorial debut on the film, which stars David Duchovny, Jackson White, Samantha Mathis, Pam Grier, Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Henry Thomas, Natalie Alyn Lind and Isabella Star LaBlanc.
“Pet Sematary: Bloodlines” is set for release on Paramount+ on October 6th.
