Kidman Back In “Nine Perfect Strangers” S2

Hulu

Though Hulu officially renewed its Australian-shot thriller series “Nine Perfect Strangers” for a second season last year, it wasn’t clear if anyone would be back as progress on the production was slow.

Now, Nicole Kidman is confirmed to be returning in the role of resort director Masha Dmitrichenko as well as in her capacity as executive producer. “The White Lotus” and “The Last of Us” breakout Murray Bartlett is also nearing a deal to star in the second season.

Others hopping onboard are Liv Ullmann (“Persona”), Dolly De Leon (“Triangle of Sadness”), Maisie Richardson Sellers (“Legends of Tomorrow”), and Aras Aydin (“Cherry Season”).

Based on Liane Moriarty’s book, the first season took place at a boutique health-and-wellness resort that promised healing and transformation as nine stressed city dwellers try to get on a path to a better way of living.

That first season cast included the likes of Luke Evans, Melissa McCarthy, Bobby Cannavale and Michael Shannon among others. None of them are expected back for this run. Plot specifics are also under wraps.

David E. Kelley co-wrote the season with John Henry Butterworth and Samantha Strauss. Kelley also served as showrunner and executive producer while Jonathan Levine directed all eight episodes.
