Comedians Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele are bringing one of their comedy show’s most well-known characters to the big screen.
EW reports that the pair are working with Paramount Pictures on a “Substitute Teacher” movie which would see their Mr. Garvey character on screen:
“We’re in negotiations at Paramount to make a Substitute Teacher movie. Two of our writers are penning it. Well, they’re not penning it as we speak – it’s getting there.”
The character appeared in a three-minute sketch during the series, a sketch which has since gone viral. It has become the show’s most popular sketch online by a wide margin with over 58 million views.
It features a hardass teacher with twenty years of experience in teaching at rough inner city schools who refuses to be messed with while taking attendance at a suburban upper class school.
The fourth season of “Key and Peele” has just premiered. The pair are also working on a film with Judd Apatow, and producing the upcoming reboot of the “Police Academy” franchise.
