Disney Pictures has recast the key role in their forthcoming animated adventure “Raya and The Last Dragon” reports EW.
“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” actress Kelly Marie Tran will take over the role of Raya from “Rick and Morty” actress Cassie Steele. The filmmakers and studio chose to adjust their vision and bring Tran in as the lead.
The film is set in the mysterious realm of Kumandra and centers on warrior Raya as she seeks for the last dragon before Druun an Evil Force Destroys the Realm.
Tran joins Awkwafina who plays the dragon in its human form named Sisu. The project is written by Adele Lim (“Crazy Rich Asians”) and Qui Nguyen and directed by Don Hall (“Big Hero 6”) and Carlos Lopez Estrada (“Blindspotting”).
“Raya and the Last Dragon” is set to hit cinemas on March 12th 2021.
