Harvey Keitel, Laura Harrier, Grace Zabriskie, Olunike Adeliyi and TJ Atoms are set to join the cast of the Mike Tyson biographical series “Iron Mike” at Hulu.
Trevante Rhodes (“Moonlight,” “Bird Box”) plays former boxing heavyweight champion Tyson in the eight-episode limited series, while all the newcomers have scored recurring roles.
Keitel will play Tyson’s first trainer and eventually adoptive father Cus D’Amato with Zabriskie as his wife. Harrier will play Tyson’s first wife, actress Robin Givens. Adeliyi will play Mike’s mother Lorna Mae, while Atoms plays a thief who befriended Mike.
Production is currently underway on the series which hails from the “I, Tonya” team of screenwriter Steven Rogers, director Craig Gillespie and producer Margot Robbie.
Karin Gist (“Mixed-ish”) will serve as showrunner for the series which Tyson himself has labelled as unauthorized and a “tone-deaf cultural misappropriation of my life story”.
Tyson is collaborating with Jamie Foxx, director Antoine Fuqua and executive producer Martin Scorsese on an authorized miniseries about his life which is still in the early stages.
