Keanu Reeves will star in and produce both a live-action film and an anime TV series adaptation of his own BOOM! Studios comic series “Brzrkr” for Netflix.
New York Times bestselling writer Matt Kindt penned and famed Marvel artist Ron Garney illustrated the twelve-issue comic series which originated from an idea Reeves had been developing for a number of years.
Reeves, dubbed a co-author and co-creator of the comic, will star as the half-mortal/half-god ‘B’ and follows the warrior’s 80,000-year brutal fight through the ages.
He’s a man cursed and compelled to violence and, after wandering the earth for centuries, he’s found refuge – working for the U.S. government to fight the battles too violent and too dangerous for anyone else.
In exchange, he’s granted the one thing he desires – the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence…and how to end it.
Reeves will lead the live-action film first, then voice his role in the anime which will explore different elements of the story and expand the universe.
Reeves, Stephen Hamel, Ross Richie and Stephen Christy will produce. The actor recent wrapped filming a fourth “The Matrix” film and will shoot a fourth “John Wick” film this Spring.
