The legend that is Keanu Reeves is reportedly considering directing the Netflix live-action film adaptation of the comic book “BRZRKR” himself.

Collider broke the news in an interview with the comic’s writers and creators Reeves and Matt Kindt, along with artist Ron Garney. Whilst talking about the franchise’s future, Reeves revealed that he hadn’t read “The Batman” scribe Mattson Tomlin’s script for the R-rated film adaptation as yet, but he is considering directing said adaption.

The twelve-issue 2021 comic series originated from an idea Reeves had been developing for a number of years. He will star in the film as a half-mortal/half-god as the story charts his 80,000-year brutal fight through the ages – cursed and compelled to violence and wandering the earth for millennia.

More recently, he’s found refuge working for the U.S. government to fight the battles too violent and too dangerous for anyone else. In exchange, he is granted the one thing he desires – the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence…and how to end it.

Netflix is planning both the film and an animated series with two seasons, the latter under wraps for now. Reeves, whose only directing credit in Reeves’ career to date was 2013’s “Man of Tai Chi,” says:

“I know how it’s a lot of work, but the film that I directed, Man of Tai Chi, was born, I became the director because I was part of the writing process, and I didn’t want to hand it over. I was like, oh, okay. I have to direct this. I’m not quite there yet on ‘BRZRKR’. I have to read the script, but I’m also interested in having a collaborator and what they could bring to it.”

There’s no release date for the “BRZRKR” movie or the animated series at this time.
