Showtime, CBS Television Studios and Paramount Television have set up a major limited series adaptation of Michael Chabon’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 2000 novel “The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay”.
Called an epic tale of love, war and the birth of America’s comic book superhero obsession in big-band-era New York, the action follows budding magician Joe Kavalier and his genius cousin Sammy Clay who are living in 1939 New York City.
The husband-and-wife team of Chabon and Ayelet Waldman will executive produce and both have signed a multi-year overall deal with CBS TV Studios. Akiva Goldsman and Alex Kurtzman are also executive producing.
Chabon has recently been serving as showrunner on CBS All Access’ “Star Trek: Picard” which premieres in January. Chabon will stay with that series until he transitions full-time to ‘Kavalier’ showrunner sometime next year, but will remain creatively involved as an executive producer.
Chabon and Aylet also co-wrote and executive produced Netflix limited series “Unbelievable” which landed four Golden Globe nominations yesterday.
