Filmmaker Kat Coiro (“Marry Me,” “Dead to Me,” “Shameless”) is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as she is currently in negotiations to direct the pilot and several other episodes of Marvel Studios’ “She-Hulk” series for the Disney+ service.
“Rick and Morty” writer Jessica Gao has already been tapped to lead the writers room for the show based on the character Jennifer Walters, an attorney and cousin of Bruce Banner, aka The Hulk. An emergency blood transfusion from her cousin gave Walters her powers, but unlike Banner/Hulk she is able to keep her intelligence and personality when she hulks out.
Coiro will also serve as an executive producer on the series which hasn’t set its lead actress yet. The project was one of several live-action series announced last year alongside planned “Ms. Marvel” and “Moon Knight” TV series.
