Colin Kaepernick and his Ra Vision Media label has signed an overall first-look deal with The Walt Disney Company. The deal will extend across all Walt Disney Platforms including Walt Disney Television, ESPN, Hulu, Pixar, and ESPN’s The Undefeated.
The deal will focus on telling scripted and unscripted stories that explore race, social injustice and the quest for equity along with offering a new platform to showcase the work of Black and Brown directors and producers along with developing stories from the perspective of those communities.
The first project in development under the deal is an exclusive docuseries produced by ESPN Films chronicling Kaepernick’s life. It will use extensive new interviews and never-seen-before archival material that documents his last five years, offering his story from his perspective. Libby Geist, Kevin Merida and Connor Schell will executive produce.
He’s not the only one signing first look deals today. “The Batman” director Matt Reeves and his 6th & Idaho production company have signed an overall multi-year deal with Warner Bros. Television Group that will make WB home for all of 6th & Idaho’s future TV projects. The deal encompasses all platforms, including broadcast, cable, and HBO Max.
The projects will be produced in association with Warner Bros. Television, Warner Horizon Scripted Television, Warner Bros. Animation or Blue Ribbon Content, depending on the platform. Warner Bros. International Television Distribution will distribute 6th & Idaho’s shows to the global marketplace.
