Josh Duhamel To Lead Heist Tale “Bandit”

Josh Duhamel (“Safe Haven,” “Transformers”) has signed on to star in the heist thriller “Bandit” for Goldrush Entertainment.

Based on Robert Knuckle’s best-selling novel “The Flying Bandit” and related interviews, the story follows the true-life exploits of Gilbert Galvan Jr. – an American criminal in Canada who was dubbed the Flying Bandit and was known for planning and executing over sixty bank and jewelry heists.

He earned his nickname though by being a collector of the frequent flyer program, flying himself first class to different cities across the country and sometimes robbing three banks in one day using disguises. Galvan still holds a record for the most consecutive robberies in Canadian history.

The film version will include a love interest and a brilliant cop determined to take him down in a cross country pursuit.

Allan Ungar, who directed the warmly received “Uncharted” fan film starring Nathan Fillion that went viral last year, is directing from a script by Kraig Wenman. Eric Gozlan will produce.

Duhamel will be seen next year in Netflix’s superhero comic adaptation “Jupiter’s Legacy”.
