Jon Hamm To Lead “Fletch” Reboot

A modern-day reboot of the “Fletch” comedy film franchise is in the works at Miramax with Jon Hamm to take over the titular role.

Chevy Chase played the quick-witted investigative reporter Irwin M. ‘Fletch’ Fletcher in the 1985 original and its 1989 sequel “Fletch Lives”. The film were based on the books by Gregory McDonald.

The new film will be based on McDonald’s second book in the series “Confess Fletch”. A mysterious chain of events sees Fletch finding himself in the middle of multiple murders – one of which pins him as a prime suspect.

While on a quest to prove his innocence, Fletch is tasked with finding his fiancee’s stolen art collection, acquired after her father goes missing and is presumed dead.

Hamm and Connie Tavel will produce while “Superbad” helmer Greg Mottola will direct from a script by Zev Borrow.
