Iconic Chinese filmmaker John Woo has set up his first Hollywood action film in decades.

Joel Kinnaman will star in the feature titled “Silent Night” which will involve a loud action tale that unfolds without a word of dialogue.

The story follows a father heads into the underworld to avenge his young son’s death. Further casting is underway and Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee, Christian Mercuri and Lori Tilkin are producing.

Woo broke through with Hong Kong action classics like “The Killer,” “Hard Boiled” and “A Better Tomorrow” before hitting Hollywood with six films over a decade span from 1993’s “Hard Target” to 2003’s “Paycheck” with the most lauded of the movies being 1996’s “Broken Arrow” and 1997’s “Face/Off”.

Since then he’s been doing Chinese and Hong Kong films like his two-part “Red Cliff” epic, “The Crossing” and his most recent feature “Manhunt”.
