A feature-length documentary about legendary film score composer John Williams is in the works with his longtime collaborator Steven Spielberg among those behind the project.
Amblin Television, Imagine Documentaries and Nedland Media are in the very early stages of production on the feature which will be helmed by Laurent Bouzereau (“Five Came Back,” “Natalie Wood: What Remains Behind”).
Bouzereau is a longtime director of behind-the-scenes featurettes for hundreds of films since the 1990s, including several dozen for Spielberg movies. Spielberg is executive producing along with Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey, Justin Wilkes, Sara Bernstein and Meredith Kaulfers.
Williams is the most recognized and accomplished film composer alive and amongst the most influential in film history with his work over six decades key to the success of iconic films like “Star Wars,” “Superman,” “Jaws,” “Jurassic Park,” “Raiders of the Lost Ark,” “E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial,” “JFK,” “Home Alone,” “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” “Harry Potter,” “Schindler’s List” and many more.
The now 90-year-old Williams was expected to retire after finishing the upcoming “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny,” but surprised everyone the other week when he revealed he had changed his mind during a talk with a visibly emotional Spielberg.
Williams has also held decades of annual concerts at the Hollywood Bowl over the course of the Labor Day weekend which attract audiences from all over. One revelation he made to Classic FM recently is that he’d like to do a James Bond film score.
