John Ridley To Helm “Project Poltergeist”

“12 Years a Slave” scribe and “American Crime” creator John Ridley will write and direct a still-untitled paranormal thriller movie for Blumhouse.

Based on Saleah Blancaflor’s recent article “Project Poltergeist,” the based on true events story is set in the 1960s and follows unexplained events surrounding the first alleged haunting in a public house project that terrified a young boy in New Jersey.

Ridley says in a statement: “This is an incredible true-life narrative of a young man dealing with horrors – both paranormal and racially systemic – in a community that is scarred by hate, yet ultimately brought together by hope.”

Jason Blum will produce while Matthew Pearl and Greg Nicholas are executive producing.
