John Lithgow Returns For “Dexter” Revival

John Lithgow Returns For Dexter Revival
Showtime

John Lithgow will make a short but “decisive” return appearance in the upcoming “Dexter” revival on Showtime.

The actor scored an Emmy win for his role as the fourth season’s main villain – family man/murderer Arthur Mitchell (aka. the Trinity Killer) – in what’s considered either the show’s best or equal best season alongside the second.

Lithgow’s character was arguably Dexter’s most dangerous opponent and was seemingly killed off by Michael C. Hall’s Dexter Morgan himself back in 2009. However, Deadline reports that producers have “concocted a pathway for the Trinity Killer to come back that works within the larger Dexter narrative.”

This most likely means either a flashback, dream or as someone in Dexter’s mind only he can see (ala Dexter’s late father). Lithgow is only expected to film for about a day or so on the show’s Los Angeles set.

Clyde Phillips serves as showrunner on the new run of the series which airs this Fall.
