British filmmaker Joe Wright (“Atonement,” “Cyrano,” “Darkest Hour”) has been set to direct the prestige TV series “M” which chronicles the rise to power of Benito Mussolini.
The eight-part series is based on Antonio Scurati’s award-winning novel “M. Son of the Century” which takes an innovative approach to tracing the birth of Fascism in Italy, Mussolini’s ascent and his legacy.
The project is penned by Stefano Bises and Davide Serino and will soon start shooting at Rome’s Cinecitta Studios and is being produced by Sky Studios, The Apartment and Pathe.
