Oscar-winning actress and director Jodie Foster will both star in and executive produce the fourth season of HBO’s “True Detective” anthology drama which is being dubbed “True Detective: Night Country”.
The story begins as the months-long winter night falls in Ennis, Alaska, the six men that operate the Tsalal Arctic Research Station vanish without a trace.
To solve the case, Detectives Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro will have to confront the darkness they carry in themselves and dig into the haunted truths that lie buried under the eternal ice.
Foster will play the role of Danvers, hopping onboard following a prolonged round of negotiations.
Issa Lopez (“Tigers Are Not Afraid”) will pen the scripts with Alan Page Arriaga (“Shining Girls”) also on board as a writer. Lopez will direct multiple episodes including the pilot.
“Moonlight” director Barry Jenkins along with Adele Romanski, Mark Ceryak, Mari Jo Winkler, Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson will all executive produce.
Cary Joji Fukunaga and creator Nic Pizzolatto are also executive producers but aren’t creatively involved in the new run.
