“Killing Eve” actress Jodie Comer is rumored to be in talks to star in the highly anticipated “Blade Runner 2099” series for Amazon.
The project marks the third major installment in the franchise following Ridley Scott’s original 1982 film “Blade Runner” and Denis Villeneuve’s 2017 sequel “Blade Runner 2049”.
Scott is executive producing the series with Silka Luisa (“Shining Girls”) set to write and executive produce for Scott Free Productions, Amazon Studios and “The Expanse” producers Alcon Entertainment.
First announced a year ago, “Blade Runner 2099” is a priority development at Amazon Studios which is being fast-tracked and Scott himself may direct some episodes.
Now, during this week’s episode of The Hot Mic, reporter Jeff Sneider mentioned the Comer report and says after working with Scott on “The Last Duel,” she was eager to work with him again but things fell through on other projects such as Scott’s upcoming “Napoleon” film.
With the action taking place fifty years after Villeneuve’s film, it’s not clear what the storyline or characters might be. Andrew Kosove, Broderick Johnson, Ben Roberts, Cynthia Yorkin, David W. Zucker, Clayton Krueger and “Blade Runner 2049” scribe Michael Green will all executive produce alongside Scott.
