Jim Carrey is reportedly in talks to lead a live-action adaptation of the classic cartoon “The Jetsons” at Warner Bros. Pictures.
“Jurassic World” helmer Colin Trevorrow is in talks to to direct the project and co-write the script with Joe Epstein.
The project is said to be in the very early stages of development with no deals currently in place, so if it comes it’ll be years away.
The original early 1960s Hanna-Barbera cartoon which was in syndication for decades and was set in the distant future. It focused on the misadventures of a family in a time of sky homes, hover cars, robot servants and other tech advances.
The family included married couple George and Jane Jetson, their kids Judy and Elroy, dog Astro and robot maid Rosie. Presumably Carrey would play George.
Carrey most recently starred as Dr. Robotnik in Paramount’s “Sonic the Hedgehog” franchise, playing the role across three films. A fourth is in the works, but it’s not clear if Carrey is returning for that – though he’s said he’s open to.
