Jesse Plemons Joins Scorsese’s “Killers”

Jesse Plemons (“Game Night,” “Fargo,” “Breaking Bad”) has joined the cast of Martin Scorsese’s big-budget thriller “Killers of the Flower Moon” for Apple Studios.

Plemons will lead a cast that includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert De Niro and Lily Gladstone. Plemons takes over the role of FBI agent Tom White, a part that was originally to have been played by DiCaprio before “The Revenant” star opted to take a secondary lead role as the nephew of a powerful rancher (De Niro).

Plemons, who previously worked with Scorsese on “The Irishman,” had hoped to do both this and Jordan Peele’s new film but the scheduling couldn’t be worked out as both will be shooting this Summer. That led him to ultimately choose this.

Based on “The Lost City of Z” author David Grann’s non-fiction book, the 1920s true story focuses on a string of murders of members of the Osage nation in Oklahoma after oil was discovered beneath their land. The series of slayings was one of the fledgeling FBI’s first major homicide investigations.

Eric Roth adapted the script for “Killers of the Flower Moon” which is currently slated to shoot from May to late summer. Scorsese is producing and directing.
