Jennifer Lopez is set to star in the micro-budget thriller “The Boy Next Door” from Blumhouse Productions and Universal Pictures.
Lopez plays a recently separated mother who strikes up an affair with a male teenager who recently arrived in the neighborhood.
When her own son befriends the teen, the mother tries to abruptly end the relationship – things take a turn for the creepy.
Rob Cohen (“xXx,” “The Fast and the Furious”) is in talks to direct the $3-4 million budget film from a script by Barbara Curry.
Jason Blum (“Paranormal Activity,” “The Purge”) is producing and filming begins this fall ahead of Lopez’s “American Idol” commitments in January.
