“The Walking Dead” and “Supernatural” alum Jeffery Dean Morgan has confirmed that he has joined the cast of Amazon’s animated series “Invincible”. Specifics of his role are under wraps.
Morgan posted a photo on Instagram holding two comic compendiums for second and third volumes of Robert Kirkman’s original comic – suggesting he’s in the show’s second and third season. Morgan captioned the photo: “Doing a little reading. Thanks to #robertkirkman.”
The series adaptation launched March 2021 to much critical acclaim and a two-season renewal. Since then fans have been eagerly awaiting an update on the second season.
However, there was no update on it until two weeks ago when a teaser trailer for the second season emerged and confirmed it’s coming this year.
The story follows Steven Yeun’s Mark Grayson – a teenager whose father is the world’s most powerful superhero. On his 17th birthday, Mark begins to develop powers of his own and realizes he needs help to contain his powers, while also reckoning with his Dad’s less-than-perfect legacy.
J.K. Simmons voices his father Omni-Man whilst the voice cast includes Seth Rogen, Sandra Oh, Gillian Jacobs, Andrew Rannells, Zazie Beetz, Mark Hamill, Walter Goggins, Jason Mantzoukas, Zachary Quinto, Mahershala Ali, Melise, Kevin Michael Richardson, Grey Griffin, and Khary Payton.
Robert Kirkman, Simon Racioppa, David Alpert, and Catherine Winder executive produce. A separate live-action adaptation of the property is also in the works.
Morgan will next be seen in the fourth season of Amazon Prime’s brutal superhero parody series “The Boys” – also in an undisclosed role.
