Jeff Nichols’ “Bikeriders” Delayed Indefinitely

20th Century Studios

New Regency has announced the delay of the release of Jeff Nichols’ awards contender “The Bikeriders” due to the ongoing actor’s strike.

Tom Hardy, Jodie Comer, Austin Butler and Michael Shannon star in the film which was slated to hit cinemas on December 1st. It has now been removed from the slate with a date as yet undetermined.

The actors are prohibited from doing any promotion or publicity, and New Regency reportedly believes the film has the best chance of success with access to talent. As of now, there’s no indication of when the SAG-AFTRA strike might end.

The intention however is to still qualify it for this year’s awards race so a limited release before the New Year is likely still being sought. The post-Thanksgiving weekend will now be dominated by the concert film “Renaissance: A Film by Beyonce”.

Inspired by Danny Lyon’s book of photography, the story unfolds in the 1960s. Kathy, a strong-willed member of the Vandals who is married to a wild, reckless bike rider named Benny.

She recounts the club’s evolution over the course of a decade from a group of local outsiders led by the strong Johnny to something more dangerous and sinister.

At the same time, she feels she must compete with Johnny for Benny’s attention. Soon, all three are forced to make choices about their loyalty to the club and to each other.

Mike Faist, Boyd Holbrook, Damon Herriman, Beau Knapp, Emory Cohen, Karl Glusman, Toby Wallace, Norman Reedus, and Happy Anderson co-star.
