“Star Wars: Jedi – Survivor” game director Stig Asmussen says he wants to make Cal Kestis’s story a trilogy should the upcoming sequel to 2019’s “Star Wars: Jedi – Fallen Order” game perform well.
Picking up five years later, the third person, narrative-driven action-adventure sees Cal Kestis (Cameron Monaghan) come into his own and grown into a powerful Jedi Knight.
Carrying the memories and expectations of the Jedi Order with him, his crusade against the Empire has only become more perilous. The Dark Times are closing in – with enemies new and familiar surrounding him, Cal will need to decide how far he’s willing to go to save those closest to him.
Speaking to IGN, Asmussen says they were already talking about the second game before ‘Fallen Order’ came out:
“I mean, frankly, we were talking beyond. And these are conversations that, when we’re breaking this story with Lucasfilm, it’s like: ‘Well, where are we going with the second game?
I always wanted to see this as a trilogy. How can we take Cal and the crew to new places beyond what we were doing in the first game?
We had a pretty decent idea of timeframe where we wanted Survivor to take place, what the stakes were going to be, what the tone o the game was going to be, what Cal was going to be up against, and how the crew was going to factor into that. And there’s ideas of what we could do beyond that as well.”
Asmussen adds that a third game most likely would have to be built using Unreal Engine 5 instead of the Unreal Engine 4 used on ‘Survivor’.
‘Fallen Order’ exceeded EA’s sales expectations and became the second best-selling Star Wars game of all time as of 2021 along with cementing developer Respawn Entertainment’s success. Respawn is also developing an all-new “Star Wars” first-person shooter.
“Star Wars: Jedi – Survivor” will launch in stores on April 28th.
