The sequel to the best-selling and well-received “Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order,” a rare modern single-player game title from EA, is reportedly set to be released for next-generation systems (and PC) only.
VentureBeat reporter Jeff Grubb reportedly made the claim as part of his Grubbsnax podcast on Giant Bomb (via VGC), saying the game will be only for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC – not for prior generations (ie. PS4, Xbox One).
He says: “One of the reasons that they’re going to be able to do that is because it’s not coming out until 2023. This game is for sure now not coming out until 2023.” He also says the ‘Fallen Order’ name will be dropped for the sequel and we could get an update (hopefully a title reveal) as early as next month at Star Wars Celebration.
Whilst many game titles have straddled the previous/next-gen line this year, more than a few major AAA titles have made it clear they’re going next gen only in 2023 such as “Marvel’s Spider-Man 2,” “Alan Wake II,” “Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League” and the “Dead Space” remake.
EA officially announced the sequel in January along with two other new “Star Wars” projects in development at Respawn Entertainment.
