Celebrated actress Jean Smart is reportedly ‘doing well’ following a recent heart procedure.
Last week the “Watchmen,” “24” and “Babylon” star revealed she had recently undergone an unspecified, but successful, heart procedure. As a result production on the third season of HBO’s “Hacks” hit pause to give her time to recover.
Now her co-star Hannah Einbinder has offered an update on how she’s faring, telling Variety: “She’s doing well. She’s recovering. We just visited her.” Einbinder added production on the series will resume “not too long from now” but producers haven’t given them a return start date yet.
In her Instagram post last week, Smart said: “I am fortunate to have excellent professional care and support from family and friends while I continue to recuperate. Please listen to your body and talk to your doctor – I’m very glad I did!.”
“Hacks” stars Smart as Deborah Vance, a legendary comedian who has spent years performing at a residency in Las Vegas. Einbinder plays an aspiring comedy writer who finds herself working as a writer for Vance.
Smart picked up a SAG Award on Sunday for her work on the series, with actor Christopher McDonald accepting the award on her behalf and reading a speech for her. Production on the show’s third season has been underway since the winter ahead of a premiere later this year.
