Jared Leto is set to star in a new biopic about the late German fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld. The project will be produced by Leto & Emma Ludbrook’s Paradox production company along with the House of Karl Lagerfeld label.
The story will reportedly cover the key relationships in Lagerfeld’s life, told through an unpredictable lens, and conversations are currently underway with filmmakers.
Lagerfeld died in February 2019 after a six-decade career but still remains an important figure in the fashion world to this day, with next year’s Met Gala theme dedicated to his work.
He worked at Fendi in the late 1960s before moving to Chloe through the 1970s. In 1982 he went to Chanel, at the time a near-dead brand, and revamped it – turning it into a fashion giant. He remained with the label until his death.
Several of Lagerfeld’s most trusted confidants – former company CEO Pier Paolo Righi, close advisor Caroline Lebar, and personal assistant/bodyguard Sébastien Jondeau will all executive produce.
