Janeway Returns In “Star Trek: Prodigy”

Kate Mulgrew will reprise her famous role as former U.S.S. Voyager Captain Kathryn Janeway in the upcoming CG-animated series “Star Trek: Prodigy” for Nickelodeon and CBS Studios.

Emmy winners Dan and Kevin Hageman are behind the series which will follow a group of lawless teenagers who discover a derelict Starfleet ship and take it on adventures while searching for meaning and salvation in the universe.

Mulgrew and the show’s producers made the announcement in a video conference call you can see below, indicating she will be the main character. Of returning to the role, Mulgrew says:

“I have invested every scintilla of my being in Captain Janeway, and I can’t wait to endow her with nuance that I never did before in Star Trek: Prodigy. How thrilling to be able to introduce to these young minds an idea that has elevated the world for decades. To be at the helm again is going to be deeply gratifying in a new way for me.”

Janeway was the central character for “Star Trek: Voyager” across seven seasons from 1995-2002. Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin, Katie Krentz, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth and the Hageman siblings will executive produce.
