Jamie Foxx’s Tyson Biopic Still Happening

Jamie Foxx knows his way around biopics, even winning a best actor Oscar for his work in “Ray”.

Now it appears as if his long-in-development life story of former boxing champion Mike Tyson will be coming to the big screen sooner than expected.

Speaking on Mark Birnbaum’s Instagram Live series “Catching Up,” Foxx was asked if the biopic is still in the works and replied with a “definitive yes” before explaining the delays:

“Look, doing biographies is a tough thing. Sometimes it takes 20 years to get them done. But we officially got the real ball rolling. We want to show everybody evolves. I think when we lay the layer of Mike Tyson in this story, I think everybody from young and old will be able to understand this man’s journey. And then just the technology of how I’m gonna look, I guarantee you people will run up on me in the street, and ask for autographs, and think that I’m Mike.”

Along with a brutal training regime to help Foxx resemble the championship boxer, there’ll be make-up and visual effects work done too including “calf prosthetics” because Foxx says “I ain’t got no calf muscles.”

Foxx will soon be heard as the lead voice in the upcoming Pixar film “Soul” and remains linked to Todd McFarlane’s upcoming “Spawn” film.
