Marvel Studios’ “Avengers: Doomsday” should be just past the halfway point in its six-month shoot so far, and it seems some actors are pretty much done.
A recent trade report this week indicated Pedro Pascal has essentially finished his scenes as Mr. Fantastic. A few weeks ago at Comic-Con, actress Rebecca Romjin said she hadn’t quite finished yet as Mystique, but made it sound like she was mostly done.
Now, original “X-Men” Cyclops star James Marsden has spoken about returning as his character in “Avengers: Doomsday,” a role he hasn’t played since a brief cameo in “X-Men: Days of Future Past” and not had any real significant screen time in the role in about twenty years.
Speaking with Vanity Fair, he says the experience with the new film has been a blast:
“I was excited because you’re a part of something gigantic, and I’ve spent 20 years listening to people say, ‘When are you coming back? When are you coming back? Are you coming back?’. I’m dead. Well, maybe not. I’m going to have a tough time struggling to get into costume if they waited a couple more years. So it’s been a blast. It really has.
Its been a nice little homecoming to a role that really put me on the map. It was the first real event project that I was ever a part of, and a very beloved character, this icon from the comics. And so to step back into that role was pretty special.”
Along with Marsden and Romijn, actors Patrick Stewart (Charles Xavier), Ian McKellen (Magneto), Kelsey Grammer (Beast) and Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler) are also back in the project which opens in cinemas December 18th 2026.
