Legendary deep voiced actor James Earl Jones, who has appeared in countless films, has died. He was 93. Jones reportedly passed away at his home in Dutchess County, New York on Monday.
Jones was one of the most recognisable actors around the world and earned three Tony Awards, two Emmy Awards, and a Grammy Award along with a lifetime achievement Oscar, SAG award and Kennedy Center Honor.
He is one of the few entertainers to have won the EGOT (Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony). He began his prolific acting career in 1964 with Stanley Kubrick’s “Dr. Strangelove”.
He then went on to around 200 TV and film roles on screen across movies like “Coming to America,” “Conan the Barbarian,” “The Hunt for Red October,” “Field of Dreams,” “Patriot Games,” “Sneakers,” “The Sandlot” and more.
His voice became the voice of the most famous “Star Wars” villain of all, Darth Vader, along with that of Mufasa in Disney animation’s “The Lion King”.
On TV he was in “The Great White Hope,” and made numerous “The Simpsons’ appearances. On stage he appeared in nearly two dozen Broadway shows.
