James Cameron Is An “Alien: Earth” Fan

Hulu

Two weeks ago, the news came that FX’s “Alien: Earth” series had been officially renewed for a second season.

The show debuted to strong reviews from critics and audiences, but proved divisive as the show unfolded. Now, “Avatar” and “Aliens” filmmaker James Cameron has weighed in with his reaction to the series.

The show takes place between the events of the first two films, and FX is ploughing forward with creator Noah Hawley indicating the show could go for up to five seasons.

Cameron famously dismissed “Alien vs. Predator” but did praise both “Alien: Romulus” and “Predator: Badlands”. What does he think of this series? Speaking with Empire (via Slashfilm), Cameron says he liked it and explains why:

“I like it. I think they took a lot of the DNA from my movie, from [Ridley Scott‘s] movie. And a couple of things from some of the later movies, they’ve got a little bit of that crazy POV thing racing down the corridors from [David] Fincher‘s film. I think it’s good. It’s great creative recombinance in action, but with its own swerve, which is basically what I did. You gotta celebrate the new with the old.”

The second season will shift locations, with filming moving from the first season’s Thailand locales to shooting in London. Shooting will commence next year.
