Jake Kasdan (“Bad Teacher,” “Sex Tape”) has come omboard as director of the “Jumanji” remake at Sony Pictures.
Kasdan will work from a screenplay by “High Fidelity” and “Con Air” scribe Scott Rosenberg which will return to the original 1985 Chris Van Allsburg children’s book rather than doing a straight up remake of Joe Johnston’s 1995 previous film adaptation with Robin Williams.
Matt Tolmach and Bill Teitler are producing and the film is currently targeting a Christmas release.
