The two names that keep swirling around potential James Bond casting rumours these days are British actor Callum Turner and Australian actor Jacob Elordi.
Reports have been that Amazon MGM Studios favours Elordi, something that probably only increased with the actor’s Oscar nomination this week for his work in “Frankenstein”.
Now, Showbiz 411’s Roger Friedman is reporting that Elordi has had meetings with Bond producers, Amazon/MGM and director Denis Villeneuve about the part.
If Elordi is picked, it’ll be an interesting choice – at 28, the actor will be the youngest ever cast in the part. Standing 6’6 tall, he’ll also be the kind of spy that doesn’t blend into surroundings.
Either way, screen tests for the role aren’t expected for several more months and no formal offers are out at this time. It’s been estimated that casting will take place mid-2026 ahead of filming in early 2027.
Steven Knight is penning the script for the new film. Elordi will next be seen in Emerald Fennell’s “Wuthering Heights”.
Also today, a clip has been posted in which actor Riz Ahmed storms out of an interview when his co-star says Elordi has a better shot at Bond than Ahmed. The pair star in “Bait,” a new Amazon comedy series in which Ahmed plays a struggling actor who is rumored for the Bond role by the tabloids.
Riz Ahmed says he doesn't mind who plays James Bond "as long as it's me" and storms off set when Guz Khan says that "it's likely" that Jacob Elordi will be Bond instead.
