Hugh Jackman returns to the role of Wolverine in the highly anticipated third “Deadpool” film coming in 2024.
The Aussie acting veteran is already preparing for the role, telling Associated Press Entertainment that he’s started back at the gym, is eating a lot and consuming plenty of protein shakes to get back into Wolverine shape five years after we last saw him in “Logan”:
“It’s a lot of fun. It’s been five years, and I really never thought I’d come back, and I’m really, really excited about it. Actually, I do know a bit about the script, but I’m not going to tell you… I can tell you, I’m going to have the time of my life.”
Jackman adds that despite playing an older Wolverine, Logan won’t be any gentler in his old age, and Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool is going to be in his sights:
“There’s no choice. He’s definitely the angry and acerbic, grumpy… and he’s gonna take a lot of free shots at Ryan Reynolds, let me tell you. Physically, that is.”
The new film is being written by previous “Deadpool” film scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick using a previous draft by “Bob’s Burgers” duo Wendy Molyneux and Lizzie Molyneux-Loeglin.
Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has previously assured fans it will very much be an R-rated movie like the last two – and the MCU’s first R-rated feature.
Speaking of Wolverine, “Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe has told GQ that any headline claiming he’s circling the role of Wolverine in the MCU as “purely a press tour rumor”. He explains:
“I say something, and then occasionally I get bored of answering that way, so I say something different, and that sets it off again. I should just never open my mouth. I just don’t ever want to get locked into something that I am not sure I will be able to love the same amount the whole time.”
“Deadpool 3” is currently scheduled to release on November 8th 2024.
