Jackie Chan has reportedly signed on to star in “A Legend,” a sequel to his 2005 martial arts fantasy-adventure hit “The Myth”.
Stanley Tong (“Rumble in the Bronx”) will direct the film, which will boast a $50 million budget and co-star Yixing Zhang (“Kung Fu Yoga”) and Coulee Nazha (“Police Story 2013”).
Chan reprises his role as archaeology expert Professor Chen. Events begin when he notices that the texture of the artifacts discovered by his students during a glacier expedition is strikingly similar to a jade pendant he’s seen in his dreams.
Suspecting the pendant is acting as a bridge between the realm of dreams and reality, Professor Chen leads his research team on a journey deep into the Glacier Temple, embarking on a fantastical adventure.
Tony Leung Ka-fai, Kim Hee-sun, and Mallika Sherawat co-starred in “The Myth”, which pulled in $120 million worldwide at the time of its release from a $15 million budget, though critics widely panned the film.
Chan, though 69, is not slowing down with his recent action hit “Ride On” earning over $30 million in China. He will soon be heard as the voice of Splinter in the upcoming animated film “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem,” and has a fourth “Rush Hour” in the works.
